Saturday 20th October: Sneaking Into Fashion

Here are just a few of the trainers in a new exhibition charting the history of the footwear in popular culture spanning six decades : Sneaking Into Fashion.  Curator Tory Turk has pulled together rare and covetable kicks to demonstrate the progression from plimsolls to performance sports shoes to status symbol in streetstyle.  One-off designs have been collated from fashion houses (Gaultier, Westwood), musicians (The Prodigy, Oasis) and even film costume wardrobes (Kill Bill) thru to the Nike Volts worn by double Olympic champion Mo Farrah at the 2012 Games contrasted with the pair worn by Roger Bannister when he ran the first under 4-minute mile in 1950.  Hotstep it down to Covent Garden Piazza to see all 40 pairs on display until 28th October,  9am-7pm.

Tues 16th Oct: L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy via NOKI with Peter Gray

Back in 2008 I reported on the amazing gravity defying hair by Peter Gray for NOKI's Fashion East show which reminded me of Narwhal whales spikes, coming straight out of the girl's skulls.  The two creatives continue to collaborate and here are incoming photos from NOKI's styling for the rebel theme of Peter Gray's part in the weekend's L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy (essentially the Olympics of the hair colour world).
Pick up a copy of the new issue of Hunger Magazine which has just landed featuring a story shot by Rankin and styled by Kim Howells for her latest "House Of" project which features a page dedicated to Peter Gray.............. find out more over on her facebook fanpage or site.
